Abstract
This session explores how AI addresses the fundamental challenges that make threat detection difficult, examining why legacy approaches are insufficient and the core problems any detection system must solve: operating at massive scale with heterogeneous data streams, identifying threats with limited or incomplete training data, adapting to constantly evolving attack techniques, and delivering interpretable results that security teams can act on. We will discuss AI techniques proving effective in production, including unsupervised methods for anomaly detection, behavioural analytics that establish baselines, AI models that identify threats from a combination of different signals and evidence, and modern approaches that balance automation with the explainability analysts need for confident decision-making.
Attendees will gain a practical understanding of which AI approaches work for different threat scenarios and how to evaluate solutions beyond marketing hype.
